Jazz Monthly.com Feature Club Review
EARL KLUGH

Legendary Earl Klugh “spiced” up the night on August 5th at the Blue Note (NYC) when he performed to a packed and enthusiastic audience. This was Earl’s first appearance at the Blue Note since the release of his latest CD Spice Of Life on Koch Records.
Opening with Before You Go, Earl and his band immediately warmed up the crowd and created a perfect mood.
He announced that this show was a celebration of his first “band” release in nine years. And speaking of the band, Lenny Price on saxophone, Al Turner on bass, Ron Otis on drums, and David Lee & Al Duncan on keyboards, the musical connections between this group of such prolific players really contributed to a superb performance.
His next song, Living Inside Your Love, which was recorded 32 years ago at Electric Lady Studios (in the neighborhood just around the corner), not only gave a sentimental reminiscence, but also brings to mind the diverse and wonderful ability of Earl Klugh, and what he has given audiences for 30 plus years.
When Earl performed his single release Driftin from his Spice Of Life CD, the audience just kicked back in delight to relax and enjoy this appealing melody that has something for everybody.

Between sets, Earl and his band chatted with the crowd and posed for pictures.

Throughout the set you would enjoy a mixture of Earl’s Classics along with his new releases of 2008.
We highly recommend you see Earl Klugh on this tour. In addition to great music, Earl and his band are very welcoming and friendly. The result is an inspiring and uplifting night you just don’t want to miss!
